Biography

Since very young age Roy was conected to music, studied Piano, Drums and graduated music theory. allready in the age of 16 running between recording studios, jaming and composing with his Rock n Roll band. With the rising of electronic music in the 90..s ,Roy has discovered his strong passion to the hypnotic beats, the mantras and the general atmosphere created by trademarks such as prodigy, faithless, astral projection, and more.. ,with the elctronic inspiration many things changed and Roy decided to start producing electronic beats himself and with freinds. first tracks writen together with Yonatan Marcow (a.k.a Bliss) and Gil Rosenberg(local Dj) arround 1997-98 under the project named "ShaffPuff" with old scholl psy flavour, twicking and learning Oscillators, programing midi patterns and recording noises.

In 2000 (millennium) Roy moved to San Fransisco, to play in few festivals (such as "Burning Men") and parties around the city. same time recording the ShaffPuff first edition in Profetional studios. …after releasing few tracks with the psy progrresive touch, on "Spiral trax", "ceiba recs", and more.. Roy started new project with Nitsan s. under the name "Inner Action" they released tracks on many compilations and an Album came out on 2005 (Liquid Hologram). arround that time, Roy started his Solo project - PAINKILLER , tighting up the groovy side, with hard beats and psy flavour mainly inspired by Cpu, Absolum, and Biodegradable. After releasing many individual tracks on compilations arround the world, Roy Engel a.k.a Painkiller, joined Nutek records.

The New Album "LICENSE TO HEAL" coming out these days, september 2008, consists of 9 new Painkillers, few collaboration tracks with close friends , new tracks on his own and a remix to a track from 1997. His first album was released on january 2007 "BRAINWASH", inspired by Flamenco music, same time he Released a Compilation on 3Dvision Records "Hardfloor", combining new talents and wellknown artists in the scene. few month later Roy compiled for Nutek, the cd called "Flamenco Mania" emphesizing the conecction of Flamenco Music and Trance, the recepie worked well again, discovering new talents in the scene ,combining with welknown artists on flamenco basics.

Roy and Yonatan renew their collaboration project releasing as Bliss vs Painkiller and few of their hits (such as Goblin fever and out of phaze) were played by many djs around the world. now their new Album together is Released., under the title "A-Team" . its a double cd, when one cd is totaly new creation, with many fresh ideas and the second cd is a mix of all their tracks during a year of work untill the new album has been made. their new edition of psytrance, break any existing Formula.
