Biography

Starspine is one of South Africa¥s original trance dj's. He has been playing since 1997 and has played for all the major festivals and promotors in South Africa such as Vortex 2000 Millenium Party, Solipse - Zambia 2001, Vortex/ Etnicanet Solar Eclipse 2002, and more recently the Omni Festival in Spain.

He was also resident at the famous techno club GASS in Johannesburg introducing psytrance to the club on a weekly basis for 2 years alongside internationals such as Aaron Liberator and Stirling Moss.

He has been a label dj for Alchemy Records since their inception and compiled their compilation Wild Life: Surfing on Soundwaves. He is currently a label dj and graphic designer for Nutek records, he has also produced graphics for several other psytrance labels/acts.

In addition he has also been producing for as long as he's been playing trance and formed one half of the duo Bent Sentient. They pioneered the South African sound and were the first SA psytrance act to enjoy international exposure, with releases on UK label Alchemy Records, Candyflip (GR), Digital Psionics (OZ), Sundance records (OZ) and South African labels such as Afrogalactic and Nano.

His dj¥ing style would best be described as a range from groove and percussion based hard edged psytrance, to fluffy and lush sunshine daytime sets guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Pumping at the bottom end and floating at the tops.
